Transportation
The most practical way to get to Porto Vecchio is to take a plane to Figari airport, found 20 km from the town, and then take a bus or a train. Another way to get there is drive to the Italian coast and then take a ferry.
Get in
Porto Vecchio is served by the Figari South Corsica airport located about 20 km from the town. Several companies serve the Figari airport. There are buses from other major Corsican towns, and ferries from other locations. If driving to town in the summer months, it is best to arrive very early, before 10 to ensure parking near the town center. On cloudy or rainy days in August traffic jams may stretch 2 hours long getting into or through town.
Get around
The car is not the most practical to get around Porto-Vecchio. The city is best navigated on foot, as the town has a one-way traffic system that makes it virtually impossible to navigate with a car.
